About me

A practicing taxonomist having worked extensively on floristics of N W Himalayas particularly Kashmir and Ladakh and also Delhi plants. Starting from 1970 published over 42 research papers and more than 15 books, the latest being Plant Systematics An Integrated Approach, Fourth edition published by CRC Press of Taylor & Francis Group in June 2019,  and Plant Systematics Theory and Practice, Third edition published by Oxford & IIBH Pvt. Ltd. for Indian subcontinent released in January , 2012

Contributing and actively involved with the development of website efloraofindia focussing on floristic diversity of India. Several photographs contributed by me are also featured on Flowers of India Website.

Currently also involved with the development of Digital Herbarium based on images of personal Herbarium deposited at Khalsa College and collection of live images.

My loving family includes my wife Mrs. Kulwant Gurcharan Singh, a computer professional, two sons, both Engineers, Manpreet Singh married to Dr. Komal Manpreet Singh, Ph.D in Genetics and Kanwarpreet Singh married to Harpreet Kaur, an IT professional, and darling grand daughters Ruhani Singh and Sahana Singh (daughters of Manpreet and Komal).

Born and brought up in Srinagar, Kashmir had school education at Khalsa High School and College education at Sri Pratap College, Postgraduate and Ph.D at beautiful campus of Kashmir University on charming banks of Nagin and Dal Lakes.

Shifted to Delhi in August 1975 to join Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College. Had a highly satisfying and fruitful stay at Khalsa having retired from service in 2010 as Associate Professor. I Have enjoyed my stay at the College contributing in small way in overall advancement of College, having served the College in various capacities . Being the Convenor of Golden Jubilee Celebrations Committee was the highlight of the career.
